MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats struck early and responded quickly after surrendering the tying goal to defeat Williams Baptist University 2–1 Saturday evening.
Bethel improved to 3-3-1 with the victory.
Nobert Ochieng gave the Wildcats a fast start, finding the back of the net just 2:34 into the match. It was Ochieng's first goal of the season and sent Bethel into halftime with a 1–0 advantage.
Williams Baptist evened the contest in the 56th minute when Juan Suarez scored off an assist from Adriano Pelloni.
The Wildcats needed only 65 seconds to regain the lead. Sam Neill scored the eventual game-winner at the 57:05 mark, with Reegan Christiano Serra recording the assist. It was Neill's first goal of the season.
Bethel controlled much of the action, finishing with a 10–4 advantage in shots and a 6–1 edge in corner kicks. Each team placed three shots on goal.
Ochieng led the Wildcats with four shots, including two on goal. Luiz Antonio Costa Lima added three attempts and hit the post late in the first half.
Mauricio Gonzalez De Leon played all 90 minutes in goal for Bethel and recorded two saves. The Wildcat defense did not allow a Williams Baptist shot during the opening half.
Williams Baptist fell to 2-4 with the loss.
