Baseball Sweeps Series over Lindsey Wilson

MCKENZIE, Tenn. -The Bethel Wildcats and the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders wrapped up their MSC three-game series Saturday at Wildcat Park. The Wildcats won game one 9-3 and game two 4-3. The three-game winning streak is the longest of the year for the Wildcats.

In game one, the Wildcats scored five runs in the first inning. Kendrick Osborne drove in two runs with a single. Ivan Vega plated two with a double. Bryan Catala had an RBI in the inning. The Wildcats were aided by two Blue Raider errors.

A costly two out error by Bethel helped LWC score three runs in the top of the fourth. The Wildcats came right back in the bottom of the inning. Noah Foster drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Bryan Catala followed with an RBI single. Ivan Vega drove in another run with a sacrifice fly. The Cats led 8-3 after four innings.  Osborne scored on a LWC error in the fifth to give the Cats a 9-3 lead.

The Wildcats outhit LWC 7-3. The Raiders committed four errors.

Marco Santa went the distance and picked up the win. Jonathan Phipps suffered the Raider loss.

The Cats took the lead in the second game when Paden New singled driving in two runs in the fourth. The Cats extended the lead to 4-0 with two runs in the fifth. Catala drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Zayden McCaslin scored on a LWC error.

The Blue Raiders scored two runs in the eighth and a single run in the ninth, but the Cats held on for the victory.

Each team had six hits in the game. Tyler Proctor had a great outing and picked up the win. Alexis Rodriguez was credited with the save.

Bethel moved to 12-25 overall and 8-13 in the MSC.  

Lindsey Wilson dropped to 16-19 and 8-12. The Blue Raiders have lost five games in a row.

The Wildcats remain at home playing host to Blue Mountain Christian in a non-conference game Tuesday with action beginning at 4 p.m.
