MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats closed out the non-conference portion of their schedule Tuesday hosting the Brescia Bearcats at Wildcat Park.
After Brescia scored two runs in the first inning it was all Bethel as the Wildcats scored in every inning to beat the Bearcats 23-2.
Bethel hit seven home runs in the game. Jake McDaniel hit two dingers. Bryan Catala, Ivan Vega, Wyatt McKee, Adriel Vega and Chase Hoover all went deep. Catala also had two doubles. Vega had a double as well. Jose Olmeda tripled as Bethel finished with 11 extra base hits.
McDaniel drove in five runs. Hoover drove in four runs. Olmeda and Vega had three RBI's each. McKee and Adriel Vega each drove in two runs. Catala, JT Morgan and Noah Hawkins each drove in single runs.
Lucas Smith picked up the Wildcat win. Bethel had 23 hits against eight different Bearcat pitchers. Ethan Boutkan suffered the Brescia loss.
The Wildcats are 14-28 on the season. The Bearcats are 9-30-1 on the year. The Bearcats have lost four in a row and 17 of their last 18 games.
The Wildcats close out their regular season this weekend hosting Campbellsville in MSC play.
The teams will meet Friday at 2 p.m. and then play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon, weather permitting. There is a possibility of the games being moved back to Saturday and Sunday. Senior ceremonies will take place between the games of the doubleheader.
