Baseball Wins Doubleheader on Senior Day

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats and the Campbellsville Tigers played a MSC doubleheader Saturday at Wildcat Park at the Kahlden Complex in McKenzie. It was Senior Day at the Park. David Baer, Aidan Morris, Kendrick Osborne and Marco Santa were honored before the games.

The Wildcats celebrated the seniors with two wins.

Bethel rallied late in game one to win 5-3. Bethel took a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning. Aidan Morris doubled to drive in a run and later scored on a wild pitch. Campbellsville took the lead with a three run sixth. The Wildcats answered with three of their own in the sixth to win. Jake McDaniel tied the game with a sacrifice fly. Adriel Vega hit a two-run homer to spark the Cats to the win. Bethel outhit the Tigers 6-3. Tyler Proctor picked up the Wildcat win. Zane Morrison suffered the Campbellsville loss. Alexis Rodriguez picked up the save.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead with two runs in the first inning of game two. Ivan Vega had an RBI single in the inning. Jose Olmeda slugged a two-run homer in the third to up the Wildcat lead to 4-0 margin. The Cats blew the game open with a five run fourth inning. Joseph Hufstedler had an RBI single. Bryan Catala drove in two runs with a single. Catala and Hufstedler scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Olmeda.

Olmeda went deep again in the eighth for Bethel's 10th run. The Tigers scored two runs in the eighth and three runs in the ninth to make it interesting, but Bethel held for the 10-6 victory and their fourth win in their last five games.

Marco Santa picked up the win and struck out 12 Tigers to become Bethel's all-time leader in career strikeouts.  Garrett Maloney was charged with the Tiger loss.  

The Wildcats are 16-28 overall and 11 -15 in the MSC. Campbellsville is 21-23 and 13-13 in the league.

The Cats and Tigers will play a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
