MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats and the Christian Brothers Bucs had met 15 time prior to their game Tuesday in Memphis with Bethel holding an 11-4 advantage in the series. None of the prior games could have been any wilder than what fans saw at Nadicksbernd Field Tuesday.
Trailing 9-0 in the seventh, the Wildcats sent 13 hitters to the plate in the inning. Five hits, four walks, and three Buc errors later, the Wildcats scored nine runs to tie the game at 9-9.
The Wildcats weren't through as they plated three runs in the top of the eighth to take a 12-9 margin and go on to win by that score.
The Cats were outhit 13-10 but CBU committed four costly errors.
Noah Hawkins. Chase Hoover and Zayden McCaslin drove in two runs each. Noah Foster, Ivan Vega, Bryan Catala and Jose Olmeda drove in single runs. Catala's RBI in the eighth was the go-ahead and eventual game winner.
Bethel's Lucas Smith picked up the win. Ryan White worked out of a bases loaded jam in the eighth and got the save.
Bethel snapped a four game losing streak and moved to 9-18 on the season.
CBU dropped their fifth in a row and dropped to 11-18.
The Wildcats victory avenges a 6-1 loss to CBU earlier this month.
The Wildcats jump back into league action this weekend when they travel to Cumberland University. The teams play a doubleheader Saturday at noon and a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
