Bat Cats Beat Brescia in First Road Game of Season

OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Bethel Bat Cats hit the road for the first time on the season Monday when they traveled to Owensboro to take on the Brescia Bearcats in a non-conference game. The Cats pushed their record to 7-4 with a 5-1 win over the Bearcats. It was Bethel's sixth straight win. Brescia dropped to 1-9 with their third straight loss.

Bethel is 14 -4 all-time versus Brescia and 3-1 in games played in Owensboro.

Caden Davidson was the winner pitching six strong innings giving up just one hit. Antonio Costas did not allow a hit pitching three scoreless innings to close the deal for the Wildcats. Bethel outhit the Bearcats 9-1.

Jacob Foster led off the game with a triple and scored on a Nick Proto sacrifice fly. The Wildcats scored on a passed ball in the fourth. They added a run in the seventh on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, Luke Patterson knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly. Luke Aristud led the Wildcats with three hits.

Coach Rusty Thompson was pleased with the win. "We are really pleased with our effort today. Caden pitched well and gave us a strong outing. We made the best of our appearances at the plate and took advantage of a couple of break downs by Brescia.

The game marked the first of four straight road games for the Wildcats. They face No. 8 the University of the Cumberlands this weekend in Williamsburg.
