PORTSMOUTH, OH – The Bethel Wildcats gained a split their doubleheader Saturday at Shawnee State winning game two 6-5.
In game one Shawnee scored two runs in the first and it proved to be enough for a 2-1 victory. Luke Patterson drove in Bethel's only run in the game. Alex Valcarcel suffered the loss.
Game two was tied at 5-5 after eight innings. Jack Surber had a RBI triple in the ninth to give the Wildcats the win. Surber drove in two runs in the game. Jacob Foster, Patterson, Ruber Medina and Brandon Armour each drove in single runs. Antonio Costas picked up the Wildcat win. Giovannie Nieves was credited with the save.
Bethel finished the day at 11-6 and 8-3 in the MSC. The Bears are 12-10 and 4-6.
The teams resume play Sunday in a single game at 11 a.m. CST.
