PORTSMOUTH, OH – After splitting their doubleheader on Saturday the Bethel Wildcats and the Shawnee State Bears met in the rubber match of the weekend series in Portsmouth Sunday. The Bears rallied from a 7-2 deficit to beat the Wildcats 9-7. Shawnee outhit Bethel 13-9. The teams combined for seven errors in the game.
Bethel's Nick Proto homered and drove in two runs. Sebastian Cortes, Baylor Steelman, John Figuroa, Randy Guevarez and Sebastian Cortes each had single RBI's. Jacob Foster had three hits and scored twice in the game. Brandon Degnegaard suffered the Wildcat loss.
Bethel finished the day at 11-7 and 8-4 in the MSC. The Bears are 13-10 and 5-6.
The Wildcats return home for a weekend series during Homecoming Friday and Saturday. They host longtime rival Martin Methodist Friday in a single game Friday at 3 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
