WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. –After sweeping their twin bill Friday at No. 8 the University of the Cumberlands the Bethel Wildcats met the Patriots Friday in the final game of the weekend set.
It looked like another promising day as the Cat jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first on a Jack Surber RBI single. The lead did not last long however as UC scored five runs in the bottom of the inning. Jacob Foster had an RBI single in the second but the Patriots answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Pats extended their lead with three more runs in the third and led 10 -2 after three. UC added two more runs in the fifth and went on to win 12-2 in seven innings. Bethel had won eight straight before the loss.
The Patriots outhit the Wildcats 13-8. Bethel committed three errors in the game. Brandon Degnegaard was charged with the loss. Thomas Gutierrez was the winner for UC.
The Wildcats fell to 9-5 and 7-2 in the MSC. The Patriots improved to 19 -3 and 1-2 in league play.
Bethel returns home to host Oakland City Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a nine-inning single game.
