MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats bounced back Saturday with a convincing 20-10 eight inning victory over # 8 Middle Georgia State. The impressive outing followed the Cats dropping both game Friday in their doubleheader versus the Knights.
Bethel pounded out 23 hits in the win. They scored seven runs in the first. Those runs came after MGS had scored four in the top of the inning. The Cats scored four in the second, two in the fourth, one in the sixth, four in the seventh and two in the eighth. The Wildcats scored a season high 20 runs and could have scored more leaving 16 runners stranded in the game. The game marked the seventh time this season Bethel has scored ten or more runs in a game.
Offensive Highlights:
Ryan Robertson was credited with the win. Giovannie Nieves pitched two impressive scoreless late innings in the game.
Bethel improved to 21-15 overall and 10-8 in the SSAC. MGS dropped to 29-9 and 14-4. The loss snapped a Knight six game winning streak.
Bethel returns to action Friday hosting # 2 Faulkner at 6 p.m. The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday beginning at noon.
