MCKENZIE, Tenn. -The Bethel Wildcats began their four game road trip with a 7-5 victory at LSU-Alexandria Wednesday afternoon in Alexandria, Louisiana. The win pushed the Wildcats to 9-8 on the season. (RV) LSU-Alexandria dropped to 12-5 on the year.
Trailing 1-0 the Wildcats exploded for five runs in the third. Sebastian Cortes had a two run RBI single in the inning. Lucas Riddick had an RBI and then Nicholas Proto capped off the inning with a two run RBI double. Cortes drove in another run in the fourth. Juan Torres completed the Bethel scoring when he stole home in the sixth.
Bethel's Bretton Hazlewood picked up the win while Antonio Costas was credited with the save. Jacob Norman was charged with the LUSA loss. The Wildcats outhit the home team 7-5.
The Bat Cats continue their road trip to the Bayou with a three game weekend conference series at Loyola University Friday and Saturday.
The teams play a doubleheader in New Orleans Friday at 4 p.m. and then the two squads play a single game Saturday beginning at noon. Bethel holds a 12-2 advantage in the series.
The Friday games at Loyola have been designated as the SSAC Games of the Week.
· Bethel is 9-8 overall and 0-3 in conference play, while Loyola is 11-9 and 0-3
· For the Wildcats, Nicholas Proto is batting .370 with 11 RBIs, 20 hits and six doubles, while Billy Price is 2-0 on the mound with a 2.81 ERA and .155 BA against in 16 innings
· For Loyola, Nathan Law is batting .419, while Allen Dennis has six home runs and 23 RBIs. On the mound, Alexander Acevedo has a 1.65 ERA in 16.1 innings
