HATTIESBURG, MS- The Bethel Wildcats opened their weekend series at William Carey Friday with a convincing 9-2 win over the Crusaders. Saturday the Wildcats gained a split with an 8-2 win in game two of their twin bill versus the Crusaders. WCU had won game one 4-1.
Baylor Steelman drove in Bethel's only run in game one. Bethel was outhit 4-3 in the game. Trevor Bishop suffered the loss while Sloan Dieter picked up the Crusader victory.
Game two saw the Wildcats score two runs in the first, one in the sixth and ten broke the game open with a four run seventh. The Wildcats added an insurance run in the eighth.
Austin Brenner drove in three runs. Jack Surber had two RBI's. Juan Torres and Steelman drove in single runs. Billy Price remained undefeated and moved to 6-0 with the win. Colby Shaw suffered the WCU loss.
Bethel finished the day at 17-11 and 7-4 in the SSAC. William Carey is 9-15 and 5-7.
The Wildcats return home to host long-time rival Cumberland University Monday at 3 p.m.
