JACKSON, Tenn. - The Bethel Wildcats resumed play Monday afternoon in Jackson meeting the Lane Dragons in an exhibition game. Bethel fell 81-79 in the match-up which was delayed for an hour and a half due to a mix-up with officials arriving for the 3 p.m. scheduled tip-off.
Bethel trailed 38-35 at the half and despite several late opportunities in the game came up short in the end. Cayden Edmonson led the Cats with 23 points. He was followed by Javonte Ellis who dropped in 21 points while Jarred Walker finished with 12 tallies.
Coach Jeff Britt commented, "This was a good way to get back out on the court against a quality opponent and prepare us for our conference stretch which begins Thursday. We saw some good things and felt we had a good chance to win. We will use this and work hard to get ready for our two big games at home this week."
The Cats return to regular season action Thursday playing host to No. 17 Stillman College in a key SSAC match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Crisp Arena.
