MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The No. 13 nationally ranked Bethel Wildcats moved to the final four of the SSAC Championships with a 4-2 win over Florida College Friday night at Wildcat Stadium. The No. 3 seeded Wildcats moved to 14-3-2 on the season while Florida College ended their year at 7-10-1.
Alphonso Gooden gave the Cats a 1-0 lead at the break. Second period goals by Michael Nwafor, Silvio Xavier and Damani Haris enabled the Wildcats to advance. Nwafor had two assists while Xavier was credited with an assist for the Wildcats.
Bethel had a 19-5 advantage in shots and a 9-4 margin in shots on goal. Luis Borja had two saves on the night.
With the win, the Wildcats face No. 2 seeded and No. 3 nationally ranked William Carey Thursday in the semifinals in Montgomery. The match at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex begins at 7:30 p.m.
William Carey, Mobile and Bethel all have tournament titles in the last four seasons.
