MONTGOMERY, Ala. –The No. 12 nationally ranked Bethel Wildcats fell in overtime 2-1 to the No. 2 seeded and No. 3 nationally ranked William Carey Crusaders in the semi-finals of the SSAC Championships Thursday night in Montgomery.
William Carey's Juan Ruiz Cabello scored the golden goal just one minute into extra time. Until then, a pair of first half goals stood up with WCU getting a score from Ignacio Palacio and Bethel getting the opening goal from Brandon Akem at the 12 minute mark.
Bethel out-shot WCU 14-9, but both teams put five shots on frame.
The Wildcats fell to 14-4 2 on the season while WCU moved to the Saturday title match versus Mobile who beat Martin Methodist earlier in the day.
