PIKEVILLE, KY - The (RV) Bethel Wildcats opened the 2019-20 season Friday playing in the Appalachian Wireless Classic in Pikeville, Kentucky. They opened in thrilling fashion with an 83-81 win over Alice Lloyd. Saturday was a different story as the Wildcats fell to No. 4 UPike 94-70.
The Wildcats dropped to 1-1 while the Bears moved to 5-0 on the season.
Bethel trailed at the half 44-35 and could never catch up against the host school.
Coach Jeff Britt commented, "Hopefully we can learn an early season lesson from a tremendously gifted, talented and experienced team in Pikeville. They have all the ingredients and make up to win a national championship. Along with Georgetown they are extremely talented. We had bright spots but we still have a lot of work to do this season. The schedule doesn't get and easier this weekend but hopefully we will respond in a positive fashion."
The Wildcats play their home opener Friday night hosting the University of Science & Arts at 3 p.m. in the Annual Chick-Fil-A Classic in Crisp Arena.
