Wildcats Beat Bearcats in Owensboro

OWENSBORO, KY – The (RV) Bethel Wildcats improved to 6-3 with an 87-82 win at Brescia Tuesday night in Owensboro. The Cats won for the ninth straight time over the Bearcats and lead the series 9-2. Brescia dropped to 3-5 on the year.

Bethel led at the half 46-33 and was able to withstand a second half surge by the Bearcats to win by five. Brescia outscored the Wildcats 49-41 in the half.

Bethel shot 48 percent hitting 37-of-76 shots from the floor. They hit five three's and were 8-of – 16 from the free throw line. Brescia shot 49 percent hitting 35-of-71 attempts from the field. They also hit five three-pointers. Bethel had a 44-36 advantage in rebounds.

Javonte Ellis led Bethel with 18 points and nine rebounds. Cayden Edmonson had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Cameron Ricks had 12 points and five assists. Jarred Walker had a game high 10 assists.

Kayode Daboika led the Bearcats with a game high 25 points.

Coach Jeff Britt said he was proud of his team. "Our young men played hard for the most part. Brescia plays very well at home and they have a tough and physical squad. They turned up their intensity in the second half and we had to respond. I'm proud we were able to finish strong. This was a nice road win before the holiday break. We are thankful for our fans and their support and we wish all a Happy Thanksgiving."

The Wildcats return to action December 7 traveling to Cleveland, Mississippi for an exhibition against Delta State. Tip-of is slated for 4 p.m.
