Wildcats Upset No. 7 William Carey

HATTIESBURG, MS – The (RV) Bethel Wildcats improved to 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the SSAC with an impressive 84-81 upset win over William Carey Saturday in Hattiesburg. WCU dropped to 4-4 and 1-2.

Cameron Ricks hit a three-pointer with 1:20 left to give the Wildcats an 80-78 lead. Noah Chatman followed with two clutch free throws and then Ricks hit two big charity shots with nine seconds left enabling the Wildcats to win.

The Wildcats shot 47 percent from the floor connecting on 28-of-59 shots. They hit nine three-pointers and were 19-of-23 from the foul line. The Wildcats won the battle of the boards at 36-35. Bethel had a 42-30 advantage in points in the paint. WCU shot 49 percent hitting 29-of-59 shots. They hit six threes and were 17-of-26 free throws.

Charles Cobb led Bethel with 17 points. He hit five three-pointers. Chatman had 16 points and eight rebounds. Ricks finished with 14 points. Cayden Edmonson had a team high eight rebounds.

Brandon Cranford led WCU with a game high 24 points.

Bethel returns to action Tuesday traveling to Owensboro to meet the Bearcats of Brescia at 7 p.m. Bethel leads the series 8-0 and is 5-0 in Owensboro.
