MCKENZIE, Tenn. – It wasn't easy but the Bethel Wildcats continued their domination over Middle Georgia State Thursday night with a 3-2 two overtime home victory over the Knights. Bethel is 6-0 all-time versus MGS. With the win the No. 15 Wildcats moved to 10-3-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the SSAC. MGS fell to 5-9 and 0-5. The Knights have lost six straight.
After falling behind 1-0 on a goal by Middle Georgia's Callum Bryan in the second period, the Wildcats tied the match at one all on a goal by Alphonso Gooden at 23:14 of the period. Michael Nwafor was credited with the assist. Less than nine minutes later at 14:07 Pascal Mohungsi gave the Wildcats the lead at 2-1. MGS tied the match at two on another score by Bryan at the 4:50 mark.
Mohungsi scored the game winner at 3:18 of the second overtime on an assist by Silvio Xavier.
Bethel dominated in shots at 18-3 and had a 7-3 margin in shots on goal.
Bethel returns to action Saturday hosting Brewton-Parker at 4 p.m. at Wildcat Stadium.
