PULASKI, Tenn. – The No. 11 Bethel Wildcats knew they were facing a stern road test at Martin Methodist and that is just what they received from the (RV) Hawks. The two old rivals battled as always and in the end the Wildcats prevailed 3-2.
First period goals by Pascal Mohungsi and Silvio Xavier gave the Wildcats enough firepower to reach the break tied at two each with the home team. Mohungsi would score the game winner in period two and the Wildcats escaped the upset bid of the Hawks.
Bethel had an 18-14 advantage in shots and a 9-8 margin in shots on goal. Leandro Faria recorded six saves for the Wildcats.
Bethel improved to 8-2-2 and 1-1-1 in the SSAC. They lead the all-time series between the two programs at 14-7-2. Martin Methodist dropped to 8-5 and 0-3.
The Wildcats return to action hosting Williams Baptist at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Wildcat Stadium.
