HATTIESBURG, MS –The Bethel Lady Wildcat Volleyball squad took the first two sets Saturday and appeared to be in good shape to win their fourth straight match but William Carey battled back to take the next three sets to beat the Lady Cats 3-2.
Bethel fell to 7-3 overall and 1-1 in the SSAC. WCU improved to 8-9 and 3-1.
Bethel fell 25-14, 28-26, 20-25, 21-25, 12-15.
Katelyn Van Hooser had a huge day for Bethel with 30 assists and 12 digs. Brooke Burress has 22 assists. Hannah McGowan had 10 kills and 13 digs. Giulia Zilotti finished with 13 digs. Rachael Gunn had 20 kills. Jessyca Watson contributed with 11 kills while Brianca Mayfield had 10 kills.
The two squads meet again in Crisp Arena on October 20.
The Lady Cats remain on the road traveling to Owensboro Tuesday to face Brescia. Action begins at 7 p.m. in the Moore Center. It will be the 10th meeting between the Cats and Bearcats with Bethel leading the series 8-1.
