MCKENZIE, Tenn. -After their game versus No. 2 Georgia Gwinnett was rained out earlier this week the Bethel Wildcats jumped back into action with a non-conference home doubleheader against Freed-Hardeman Saturday. The two met for the 35th and 36th times since 2006. FHU won game one 2-1 but the Cats bounced back to take game two 3-2.
The Wildcats managed just three hits in game one. The Lions scored a run in the first but the Wildcats came back to tie it in the third on a Lucas Riddick RBI double. The Lions scored what proved to be the game winner in the seventh. Trevor Bishop pitched well but suffered the loss. Jared Humphry was the winner for the Lions.
The Wildcats scored two runs in the fourth in game two. Freed scored single runs in the sixth and seventh innings. Kendall Adkisson and Austin Brenner had RBI's in the fourth. Logan Talley drove in the game winning run in the seventh. Brady Jones was the winner with Billy Price picking up the save. FHU's Landon Sewell was charged with the loss. Bethel outhit the Lions 6-3.
Bethel completed the day at 16-16 while FHU is 25-13.
The Wildcats remain home hosting Williams Baptist Tuesday. The teams play a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
