Bat Cats Split DH with Williams Baptist

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats split their doubleheader with visiting Williams Baptist Tuesday afternoon at Wildcat Park. After falling 5-2 in game one the Cats pounded the Eagles in game two winning 10-0.

In game one the Eagles struck for three runs in the first. They added two in the fifth to grab a 5-0 advantage. The Wildcats had RBI's from Colby Poston and Kendall Adkisson in the sixth but it was not enough. WBC outhit Bethel 10-4 in the game. Alex Valcarcel suffered the loss while Jarrett Westmoreland picked up the win. Heath Taylor captured the Eagle save.

The Wildcats exploded for eight runs in the third in game two. Bethel sent 11 men to the plate. Lucas Riddick led the inning off with a home run. Poston had a two-run double. Lee McBunch drove in a run and then Riddick struck again with a two-run shot to give Bethel an 8-0 lead.

Jack Surber got in on the act with a solo shot in the fourth pushing the Wildcats out to a 9-0 margin.

Jackson Hollinshed scored on a wild pitch in the sixth to complete the scoring. Bethel outhit WBC 13-5 in the game.

Brandon Degnegaard was the winning hurler. Brennan White was the loser.

The two teams split a twin bill earlier this season in Walnut Ridge with Bethel winning 5-1 and WBC winning 7-6 in a game called due to darkness.

Bethel finished the day at 17-17 while WBC left town at 9-27.

The Wildcats travel to No. 1 Faulkner this weekend with a single game Friday at 6 p.m. The two SSAC squads play a doubleheader Saturday in Montgomery beginning at 1 p.m.
