MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats completed their home and home series with Lindenwood University-Belleville hosting the Lynx at Wildcat Park Tuesday afternoon. The Lynx defeated the Wildcats 5-3 on March 20 in Belleville. It was another two run decision but this time it was the Wildcats with a 4-2 victory.
Kendall Adkisson led off with a home run in the bottom of the first to give the Cats the early 1-0 lead. LUB tied the game in the top of the second. Bethel answered in the bottom of the inning when Colby Poston scored on a Chandler Harmon single and an error on the Lynx. The visitors from Belleville tied the game with a single run in the top of the seventh. Luke Patterson came through in the bottom of the eighth which proved to be the difference in the game. Jack Surber singled while Austin Brenner was hit by a pitch. Patterson's two run RBI single drove in both to give the Wildcats a 4-2 win. Both teams finished with seven hits each in the game.
Brandon Degnegaard was the winner in relief. Axle Metzger picked up the save. Ryan Brink was charged with the Lynx loss.
Bethel improved to 14-13 while LUB dropped to 18-16 on the season.
Bethel jumps back into SSAC action Friday and Saturday traveling to Mobile for a three game weekend series. The Cats and Rams play a doubleheader Friday at 3 p.m. and a single game Saturday at 1 p.m.
