MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats completed a three game series sweep of the Loyola Wolf Pack with a dramatic 3-2 victory Friday afternoon at the Kahlden Complex in McKenzie. The Cats beat Loyola 3-2 and 1-0 Thursday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the fourth the Wildcats tied the game as Kendall Adkisson scored on a Jack Surber RBI single. The Pack took a 2-1 lead scoring a run in the top of the seventh.
That set up the dramatics for the bottom of the ninth.
Bethel's Jackson Hollinshed singled to center to begin the inning. Lucas Riddick reached first on the fielder's choice. Hollinshed was out on a force out. Surber singled to right advancing Riddick to second. After a Loyola pitching change Jacob Foster was hit by a pitch. Riddick advanced to third, Surber advanced to second. Colby Carey entered the game pinch running for Foster. Colby Poston reached first on a fielder's choice as Riddick was forced out at home. Surber advanced to third, Carey advanced to second. That set up the game winning single by Austin Brenner driving in Surber and Carey. |

Bretton Hazlewood pitched seven strong innings for the Wildcats but it was Billy Price picking up the win with two scoreless innings in relief. Brenden Taravella was charged with the Pack loss.
BU moved to 13 - 13 overall and 7-5 in the SSAC. The Pack dropped to 15-18 and 1-11 in the league. Loyola has lost 10 straight games.
Bethel plays host to Lindenwood University -Belleville Tuesday at 2 p.m.
