BELLEVILLE,IL – The Bethel Wildcats took a three game losing streak to Lindenwood University-Belleville Tuesday afternoon to battle a hot Lynx squad which had won five in a row. The Lynx built a comfortable lead and then held on for a 5-3 victory over the Wildcats.
Bethel rallied from a 5-0 deficit scoring a single run in the seventh and two runs in the eighth but it wasn't enough. The Cats outhit LUB 9-6.
Bethel's Logan Talley drove in Jack Surber who had single earlier in the seventh. Chandler Harmon hit a two run homer in the eighth.
Bethel's Alex Valcarcel suffered the loss while LUB's Cooper Patterson picked up the Lynx win. Jonathan Steiner was credited with a save.
Bethel dropped to 10-13 and 1-5 on the road this season. LUB moved to 16-12 and 12-7 at home. The two teams meet again in McKenzie next Tuesday and will play a single game starting at 2 p.m.
The Wildcats return home for a weekend series against SSAC foe Loyola University later this week. Coach Rusty Thompson announced Tuesday the games slated for Friday and Saturday have been bumped up to Thursday and Friday due to the weather forecast for the weekend. Because of the sketchy weather forecast a determination will be made later on which day a doubleheader would be played and which day the single game would be played in the three game SSAC series.
