Bat Cats Sweep Barons

MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats played host to the Brewton-Parker Barons Friday at Wildcat Park in the Kahlden Complex. The Wildcats won 5-0 and 2-1.

After stranding seven runners in the first three innings the Wildcats broke through with a four-run fourth and that proved to be enough for the Wildcat victory in game one. Lucas Riddick had the big hit in the inning with a double which plated two runs. The Wildcats scored another run on the throw. Jackson Hollinshed drove in two runs.

Brady Jones entered the game 15th in the nation in opponent's batting average at .143. He continued that mastery allowing just two hits in six innings picking up the win. The effort follows a no-hit performance against William Carey last week. Axle Metzger pitched a perfect seventh inning for the Wildcats.

In game two the Wildcats walked away winners on an error by BPU's centerfielder. Austin Brenner's fly ball was dropped and Kendall Adkisson scored the winning run giving the Cats the sweep. Colby Poston had an RBI for Bethel. Billy Price picked up the win.

Bethel is 8-9 overall and 3-2 in the SSAC. BPU is 7-19 and 0-5. The Wildcats are 7-6 at home on the season while the Barons are 1-13 on the road.

The teams play a single game Saturday at noon.
