Westfield, IN – The Bethel Wildcats saw their bats go cold on a wet and frigid day in Westfield, Indiana Friday at Indiana Wesleyan. Bethel fell to the home Wildcats 2-0 and 4-1.
In game one the Wildcats managed only two hits. Those came off the bats of Lucas Riddick and Jack Surber.
John Michael Spoon who suffered the loss pitched well enough to win giving up just three hits and two runs in seven innings. Single runs in the second and fourth innings were enough for Indiana Wesleyan. Wesleyan's Jon Young pitched eight innings and picked up the victory.
In game two Surber drove in Bethel's lone run. The Wildcats had four hits but Indiana Wesleyan had eight hits to sweep the twinbill. Steven White suffered the loss while Kyle Hall picked up the win.
Bethel dropped to 3-5 while IWU improved to 6-2.
The scheduled doubleheader scheduled to begin at noon Saturday was cancelled.
Bethel's home Monday hosting Cleary College has also been cancelled. They will play Olivet Nazarene Tuesday with the game time to be announced as soon as possible.
