MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats hosted the Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson College Tuesday afternoon at Wildcat Park in McKenzie. The game turned out to be a thriller with Bethel winning 8-7 on a walk-off home run by Jackson Hollinshed.
The Blue Raiders got on the board first in the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats responded in the bottom half of the inning when Jack Surber doubled to deep center field scoring two runners from second and third. Surber was able to score later in the inning when Jacob Foster singled to center. In the bottom of the third inning Bethel was able to add two more runs, increasing their lead to 5-1.
The Blue Raiders tied the game in the top of the fifth. The Wildcats answered with a run in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead.
Bethel increased their lead to 7-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning after Kendall Adkisson tripled to right-center field and Braden Lott hit a sacrifice fly to score him from third.
In the top of the ninth LWC'S Steven Calderon hit a two run home run over the left field fence to tie the game at seven all.
That set up the heroics by Hollinshed who drove a 2-2 pitch over the left center fence for the game winner.
Lucas Riddick had three hits and score two runs for the Wildcats.
Axle Metzger picked up the win while Bryce Collins suffered the Raider loss.
The Wildcats moved to 3-3 while Lindsey Wilson fell to 3-6.
