MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats evened their early season record at 2-2 with a doubleheader
sweep of visiting Cincinnati Christian Friday afternoon at Wildcat Park. The Cats won 11-3 and 8-5.
The game one victory was the 267th career win for Bethel Coach Rusty Thompson which made him the all-time win leader in Bethel baseball history.
The Wildcats took charge early in the game. They scored five runs in the first and added three runs in the second. A three run fourth added to the already big lead and the Cats never looked back.
Bethel had 11 hits while CCU managed just four in the game. Lucas Riddick had three hits and drove in two runs. Jack Surber, Colby Poston and Brandon Lott also drove in two runs. Austin Brenner had one RBI. Trevor Bishop picked up the win for the Cats. Payton Jenkins was charged with the loss for CCU.
The Cats scored a single run in the second in game two. They had a four-run third and pushed across two runs in the fourth. A single run in the eighth completed the Wildcat scoring.
Surber, Poston and Lott each drove in a run in game two. Randy Guevarez had two RBI'S. Sidney Rickman had three hits and drove in a run. Jackson Hollinshed had three hits in the 11 hit attack.
Brady Jones was the winner while CCU's Sam Wood was charged with the loss. Axle Metzger picked up the save for the Wildcats.
The games scheduled against CCU Saturday have been cancelled due to the weather forecast which calls for rain in the West Tennessee area.
The Wildcats return to action with a road game at Cumberland University Wednesday with the first pitch schedule for 1 p.m. in Lebanon.
