MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats beat Loyola in their opening match in pool play of the SSAC Volleyball Championships in Montgomery Thursday. Bethel had to become from behind in the first two sets. The Lady Cats won 25-21, 25-21 and 25-10.
Jessyca Watson led Bethel with 14 kills. Brooke Burress had 21 assists while Katelyn Van Hooser finished with 18 assists. Giulia Zilotti contributed with 13 digs while Hannah McGowan had 10 digs.
Bethel will meet William Carey Friday in poll play with action beginning at 12:30 P.M.
Bethel split with WCU during the regular season.
Coach Starla Cupples was pleased with the win but said her team has to tighten some things up. "We are glad to get this first win behind us. Loyola pressed us in the first two sets and we had to work hard to win those. We know we have to tighten thigs up as we move on in the championships.
