MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The Bethel Wildcats won their eighth straight with a 4 -1 win over SSAC rival Martin Methodist Saturday evening in McKenzie. The match was the SSAC Game of the Week.
Bethel moved to 10-2 overall and 3-0 in the league. The RedHawks fell to 7-5 and 2-1. Bethel snapped MMC's six game winning streak. Bethel leads the series 13-7 over the Hawks and is 7- 3-1 in McKenzie in the series.
As always it was a very physical affair between the Cats and Hawks.
First period goals by Don Obare and Pascal Mohungsi gave Bethel a 2-0 lead at the end of the period. Mohungsi and Bernardo Torres scored in the second stanza.
Wilson Musyoka, Obare and Rodrigo Atilano each recorded assists for the Wildcats.
Bethel outshot the visitors from Pulaski 16-3 and had a 10-2 margin in shots on goal.
Bethel returns to action Tuesday October 9 traveling to Union College in a non-conference match against the Bulldogs. Action begins at 4 p.m. CST.
