MCKENZIE, Tenn. –The No. 15 Bethel Wildcats beat Dalton State 4-1 Thursday night at Wildcat Stadium. With the win the Cats ran their record to 13-3-1 overall and 6-1 in the SSAC. It was Bethel's seventh win out of eight home matches on the season. DSU fell to 7-8-1 and 3-4.
The game was DSU's first ever in McKenzie. They lead the series 3-1.
The match was tied at 1-1 after the first period. Bethel scored three unanswered goals in the second period to win.
Highlighting the action for the Wildcats saw Pascal Mohungsi scoring two goals and adding an assist. David Boompong and Don Obare each scored a goal and had an assist in the Cat victory.
DSU outshot Bethel 9-7 but the Wildcats had a 6-2 advantage in shots on goal.
Bethel will close out the regular season Saturday against Faulkner with action beginning at 2:30 p.m. It will be Senior Day for the Cats.
Bethel currently is currently in second place in the SSAC standings. The top six teams advance to postseason play, with the top two seeds getting byes to the semifinals in Montgomery Nov. 7. No. 3 will host No. 6 and No. 4 will host No. 5 Nov. 2 or 3 to determine who advances to Montgomery.
