MONTGOMERY, Ala. – No. 7 seed Loyola (La.) pulled off the lone upset on day one of pool play action at the 2017 SSAC Volleyball Championship, presented by Golden Corral. Mobile, William Carey and Bethel held serve in their opening matches.
No. 4 Bethel (Tenn.) def. No. 8 Brewton-Parker (Ga.) 3-0.
Bethel won 25-20, 25-14, and 26-24. With the win Bethel moved to 13-15 on the season.
· The Wildcats out-hit the Barons .302 to .152 and served up seven aces, with Jessyca Watson leading with 14 kills, Brianca Mayfield adding nine kills and 10 digs and Brooke Burress posting 22 assists
· Brewton-Parker got eight kills and 10 digs from Krizia Cornejo, eight kills from Autumn Beasley and 21 assists from Marina Dennis
Pool play will conclude Friday at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl, with the semifinals and finals slated for Saturday. Bethel meets Faulkner a 10 a.m. and Mobile at 5 p.m.

· The Wolf Pack held the RedHawks to a .098 hitting percentage, finishing with 10.5 blocks, as Tylar Beckham had 10 kills and five blocks, Beatriz Agosto finished with 11 kills and Helene Masone totaled 24 digs
· Martin Methodist got nine kills from Sabrie Sirmones, 27 assists and nine digs from Sydney Arnold and 24 digs from Belen Albertos Asencio
No. 1 Mobile (Ala.) def. No. 5 Faulkner (Ala.) 3-1
· Mobile out-hit Faulkner .342 to .218, with Hannah Wentland producing 21 kills, Samantha Nichols and Mirella Gatterdam adding 14 kills and Annie Kate Hudson finishing with 54 assists
· Faulkner held an 11-5 edge in blocks, with Kortney Barnes producing six kills and six blocks, Krystalynn Leomiti adding 16 kills and 10 digs and Julianne Wilkes finishing with 24 digs

· The Crusaders out-hit the Knights .261 to .214, led by 15 kills and 12 digs from Caroline Golden, 10 kills from Jordan Stephens and 16 digs from Kamryn Theriot
· Middle Georgia got 27 assists and eight digs from Delia Morin, 15 digs from Cara MacFarland and 10 putaways from Alexxi Howell
