MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The (RV) Bethel Wildcats host the Faulkner Eagles in opening round action of the Southern States Athletic Conference Soccer Championships Friday night at Wildcat Stadium with play to get underway at 7 p.m. The Wildcats enter the championships as a number four seed while Faulkner is a number five seed.
Bethel finished the year at 10-5-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the league. Bethel was 1-3-1 in their last five games.
Faulkner was 9-5-1 on the year. They were 3-4 in the SSAC. The Eagles were 3-2 in their last five games.
The two squads met in Montgomery on October 14 with Bethel winning 4-2.
Mustapha Wadda led Bethel in scoring with 10 goals and five assists. Kebba Demba followed with nine goals and three assists. Leonardo Ferreira and Jaiquan Bristol contributed with five goals each. Marco Taaffe recorded 40 saves on the season. Bethel outscored their opponents 40-24 and had seven shutouts.
Jarom Farnsworth led the Eagles with nine goals and three assists on the season. They outscored their opponents 27-16.
