MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The (RV) Bethel Wildcats played host to the Faulkner Eagles in opening round action of the Southern States Athletic Conference Soccer Championships Friday night at Wildcat Stadium. The Wildcats entered the championships as a number four seed while Faulkner was a number five seed.
The Cats led at one point in the first period 2-1 but saw Faulkner score three unanswered goals and fall to the visitors from Montgomery 4-2.
Bethel finished the year at 10-6 - 1 Bethel was 1-4 -1 in their last six games.
Faulkner moved to 10-5-1 and advanced to the SSAC Championship Semifinals Nov. 8 at Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex in Montgomery, Ala. The championship match will take place Nov. 10 at the same field at 7 p.m. CST.
Mustapha Wadda and Leonardo Ferreira scored goals for the Wildcats in the loss.
Bethel outshot Faulkner 9-8 but the Eagles had a 6-3 advantage in shots on goal.
