Lady Cats Hang Tough but Fall at Campbellsville

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The (RV) Bethel Lady Wildcats traveled to No. 3 Campbellsville Thursday afternoon and fell to the Lady Tigers, 82-61.

Campbellsville pulled out to a 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 38-24 at the half.

Bethel fought hard in the second half, but the Lady Tigers maintained a double-digit margin and won their eighth in a row to move to 16-1 and 3-0 in the MSC. Bethel dropped to 13-5 and 0-2.

It was the 20th meeting between the two programs with the Tigers leading the series 17-3.

Bethel shot 38 percent from the field while Campbellsville shot 46 percent from the floor. Bethel knocked down seven three-pointers. The Tigers hit eight treys. The Tigers had a 38-26 rebound margin. Campbellsville had a 38-28 advantage in points in the paint.

Alyia Lee led Bethel with 11 points. Madison Hart finished with 10 points. Lauren Bryant hit three three-pointers and had nine points.

Four Tigers finished in double figures with Maddy Boyle scoring a game high 18 points. Boyle had five three-pointers.

Coach Chris Nelson thought his ladies gave great efforts. "I thought we battled and played well early, but we let them go on a couple of runs in the first half. We had some live ball turnovers that led to easy baskets that negated the true effort we gave." Nelson added, "Campbellsville is No. 3 in the country for a reason and I think we are still pretty good as well. We have to keep these road games in our memory bank and continue the process of getting better and get some key wins in the league."."

The Cats remain on the road visiting nearby Lindsey Wilson Saturday with the tip-off in Columbia slated for 1 p.m. CT.

It will be the ninth meeting between the two programs with Bethel holding a 5-3 advantage in the series.
