CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The No. 9 seeded Bethel Wildcats came up short in their bid to keep their season alive Saturday afternoon at No. 4 seeded Thomas More. In the second game of their MSC Opening Round series the Wildcats fell 5-4 to the Saints.
JT Morgan gave the Wildcats a 1-0 lead with a solo home run in the second.
Thomas More took a 2-1 lead with two runs in the third. The Saints upped their lead to 3-1 with a run in the fourth.
The Wildcats scored a run in the fifth when Bryan Catala singled driving in Aidan Morris to make it 3-2.
Morris tied the game in the sixth driving in Jake McDaniel with a single.
Adriel Vega homered in the seventh to give Bethel a 4-3 margin.
The Saints answered with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to retake the lead at 5-4.
The Cats had runners on in the late innings but could not get the timely hits they needed and saw their season end at 18-29.
TMU had a 9-8 advantage in hits. Bethel left seven runners on base and committed three errors in the game. Marco Santa was charged with the hard luck loss.
The Saints improved to 32-17 and will move on to next week's MSC final site in Bowling Green.
