MONTGOMERY, Ala. –The Bethel Lady Wildcats won their third straight with a 57-47 win over Brewton Parker Friday afternoon in the first game of the Faulkner Classic in Montgomery.
With the victory, Bethel moved to 3-2 on the season and knocked BPU from the ranks of the unbeaten at 4-1. Bethel's dominance in the series continued as the Cats are 10-0 all-time versus BPU.
Alyia Lee had a game high 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Bethel. Kalynn Howard finished with 12 points.
Bethel committed 20 turnovers in the game but had a sizable margin in rebounds with a 41-27 advantage.
Bethel had a 25-11 advantage in points off the bench.
Coach Chris Nelson summed up his thoughts on the win. "Today was a big win for our team but also is what we expect out of our program. On a day when Kylie (Reynolds) and Madison (Hart) were not finishing up to par we had some other members of the team step up and contribute. Anya and Alyia contributed off the bench and other members of our team contributed in timely fashions when it counted the most. We have a quick turnaround tomorrow and look forward to the challenge."
The Wildcats face host school Faulkner University at 2 p.m. Saturday.
