BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Bethel Wildcats lost a 2-1 heartbreaker to Lindsey Wilson in a MSC Baseball Tournament final site game Thursday. The Wildcats will return to action Friday at 7:30 p.m. in a consolation game. The Wildcats will play the loser of the Freed-Hardeman / Georgetown game which will be played Friday at 12:30 p.m. The tournament is being played at Bowling Green Ballpark in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Bethel, a five seed dropped to 20-18 while the fourth seeded Blue Raiders improved to 23-21.
Both teams scored single runs in the fourth inning. Bethel's Ruber Medina hit a solo homer in the top of the fourth. Henry Paulino tied the game in the bottom of the frame with a RBI single.
Both starting hurlers were brilliant for their respective squads. Cohen Achen went nine innings for the Blue Raider allowing just five hits. Marco Santa allowed just four hits into the 10th. He walked the first two hitters in the inning. Giovannie Nieves entered the game and gave up a game winning RBI single to Lucas Bault. Santa suffered the hard luck loss while Kyle Collin picked up the Raider win in relief.
Friday features two consolation games at 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. CT on Friday. The winner's bracket final will take place on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT followed by the consolation semifinal and final matchups at 2 p.m. CT and 6 p.m. CT. The championship game is scheduled for Noon CT on Sunday with the if-necessary to follow at 4 p.m. CT.
