COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats and the Georgetown Lady Tigers opened up play in the MSC Softball Tournament Finals site at Sparks Park in Columbia, Kentucky Thursday morning. The fourth seeded Lady Cats lost to the fifth seeded Lady Tigers 7-4 and will play again Friday at 12:30 p.m. Bethel will face Freed-Hardeman.
Bethel took a 1-0 lead in the second when Gillian Grahn scored on a Tiger throwing error. The score remained that way until the Lady Tigers scored a single run in the sixth to tie the game. Georgetown then exploded for six runs in the top of the seventh to lead 7-1. Bethel fought back with three runs in the bottom of the inning but the rally fell short as the Cats dropped to 26-15 on the season while GC improved to 24-18. Bethel's Kayla Reed had an RBI single in the seventh. Melanie Alexander scored on an error by the Tigers. Grahn drove in a run with a single in the inning.
The Lady Cats had nine hits in the game but left eight runners on base. Bethel had two runners thrown out at home. Alexander had three hits while Grahn and Morgan Hunt each had two hits. Billie Douglas suffered the loss. Megan Brankamp picked up the Tiger win.
Freed-Hardeman, the No. 3 seed beat Martin Methodist Friday but lost to No. 2-seed Lindsey Wilson Friday night. FHU swept Bethel in a four game set in Henderson in early April.
The winner's bracket final takes place at 4 p.m. CT Friday with the consolation semifinal taking place at 6:30 p.m. CT. On Saturday, the consolation final takes place at 2:30 p.m. CT with the championship game beginning at 5 p.m. CT. The if-necessary game will take place on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. CT

Fans are permitted for every game during the tournament. Tickets will be $5 and must be purchased through the Mid-South Conference's Hometown Ticketing page. Children ages five and under are not required to have a ticket.
Upon arriving at Sparks Park, fans will be symptom and temperature checked. Face masks are required to be worn at all times while in the facility. Following the conclusion of each game, spectators will be asked to clear the stadium to allow the staff to prepare for the next game.
