MCKENZIE, Tenn. – With gusty winds howling throughout Wildcat Stadium the (RV) Bethel Lady Wildcats played host to the Shawnee State Lady Bears Tuesday afternoon in McKenzie. The teams fought the wind and each other to a scoreless tie in regulation.
With 28 seconds left in overtime Brittany Bray scored to give the Lady Wildcats the dramatic 1-0 victory. The goal came after double assists by Catherine Hatch and Ainhoa Chirivella Roncero.
Bethel outshot SSU 16-4 and had a 10-4 advantage in shots on goal.
The Lady Cats improved to 7-4-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the Mid-South Conference. The Lady Bears fell to 8-6 and 5-6.
Bethel plays host to Georgetown Thursday at 3 p.m.
