MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats made it two straight conference wins at home Sunday with a 5 -0 win over the Pikeville Bears. The victory came on Senior Day with ceremonies taking place at the half. Elvira Martin, Marina Hamer, Catherine Hatch, Jodi Butler, Shanay Ricketts, Brittany Bray, Whitney Bonds, Myals Adkins and Elizabeth Via were all saluted and thanked for their contributions while at Bethel.
Bethel got on the board at the 16:16 mark on a goal by Jodi Butler which resulted after double assists by Maria Fernandez Campos and Elvira Martin. At the 10:33 mark Martin scored to make it 2-0. Ashari Bowen added a later goal after an assist by Olivia Kavanagh-Spall to hand Bethel a 3-0 lead after the first period.
Sacha Gay Brown scored at the 26:32 mark of the second period to increase Bethel's margin to 4-0. Martin was credited with the assist. A little over two minutes later Rafaelo Passos scored on an assist by Brown and Bethel led 5-0.
Ricketts and Molly Grace Watkins combined for the shutout. Bethel outshot UPIKE 28-1 and had a 20-0 shots on goal advantage.
Bethel moved to 6 -4-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the MSC. UPIKE fell to 0-7 and 0-7.
The Lady Cats play host to Shawnee State Tuesday at 1 p.m.
