MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats handed Marian University their first loss of the season Saturday beating the Knights 8-5 at the Kahlden Complex in McKenzie.
The Wildcats used a four run third and a four run fourth to beat the visitors from Indiana. The Knights rallied to make it interesting with a three run sixth and a two run eighth.
Nick Proto continued his hot hitting with three hits. He also drove in three runs. Jack Surber drove in three runs on two hits. Juan Torres and Ruber Medina drove in single runs each.
Marco Santa picked dup the victory while Giovannie Nieves was credited with the save. Marian's Ethan Darter was charged with the loss. In an errorless game Bethel outhit Marian 10-6.
Bethel is 3- 2 on the season while the Knights are 3-1. Bethel is 8-0 all-time versus Marian. Bethel is 4-0 against Marian in games played in McKenzie.
The two play a doubleheader Sunday beginning at noon.
