MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Bethel Wildcats saw their four game winning streak snapped at Faulkner Thursday night as the Eagles prevailed 93 -78. No. 13 Faulkner extended their winning streak to nine in a row and improved 18-3 and 9-1 in the SSAC. Bethel dropped to 14-8 and 5-5. The Wildcat loss evened the series at 6-6.
The Eagles jumped out to a 25-10 lead and led at halftime 49-27. Bethel's undoing in the first half was their percentage from the floor, shooting just 27 percent from the field. Bethel was 10-of-27 from while Faulkner was 17-of-33 from the field at 51 percent.
Bethel outscored the Eagles in the second half (51-44) but the poor first half proved to be too much to overcome.
Bethel finished at 38 percent shooting 28-of-73 from the floor. The Eagles shot 47 percent at 33-of-70. Both squads had nine three-pointers each. The Wildcats struggled from the free throw line, hitting 13-of-24 attempts.
Cayden Edmonson led the Bethel attack with 19 points. Javonte Ellis had 12 on the night. C J Jones and Nate Bradley led the Eagles with 19 points each.
The Wildcats are back in action Saturday facing Middle Georgia State in Cochran. Tip-off is at 2 p.m.
