MCKENZIE, Tenn. - The Bethel Wildcats return to action Monday night in the Annual Dr. Martin Luther King game. They host Florida College at 7: 30 p.m. The Cats snapped a two game conference losing streak with a 101-82 win over the Brewton-Parker Barons Saturday afternoon in Crisp Arena. It was the second of a four game home stand for the Wildcats who improved to 12-7 overall and 3-4 in the SSAC. The Cats are 8 -3 at home on the season and 98-29 all-time in the arena. Bethel is 69- 44 all-time versus SSAC foes.
It will be the third meeting between the two programs with Bethel holding a 2-0 margin in the series.
Five Wildcats scored in double figures. Javonte Ellis scored a career high 22 points. Charles Cobb hit four three's and finished with 19 points. Jamarius Mayberry had a career high 15 points. Cameron Ricks and Cayden Edmonson each tossed in 11 points. Noah Chatman had a game high seven rebounds.
Bethel had a 40-26 rebound advantage.
The Wildcats are led in scoring by senior Cayden Edmonson who averages 16.6 points per game. Edmonson shoots 61 percent from the floor and leads the squad with 16 blocks. He is 26th in school history with 1,104 career points. Javonte Ellis is second in scoring averaging 14.5 points per outing and leads the team in made three-pointers with 28. Cameron Ricks is third in scoring averaging 13.6 points. Jarred Walker is good for 9.4 points per game and leads the team in steals. He has 92 assists which is 9th in the nation.
Bethel averages 87.0 and yields 83.5 points per game.
The Wildcats are 2nd in the nation with 15.6 offensive rebounds per game. The Cats have 168 steals which is 9th in the country. Bethel has 319 assists which is 12th in the nation.
Jeff Britt is in his 20th season at Bethel and sports a 356-259 mark. He is 463-312 in his career. Pat Todd is in his fifth season as head coach of the Falcons.
The Falcons are 8-10 and 1-6. They are coming off an 84-79 road loss at Blue Mountain and have dropped two game in a row and four of their last five. The Falcons average 82.7 and yield 83. 3 points per game. Matt Simpson has 40 made three's on the year and leads the Falcons in scoring at 22.7 per game. Simpson is fourth in the nation in scoring. The Falcons are 7th in rebounds in the nation pulling down 43.6 per outing.
