MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The No. 21 Bethel Wildcats looked for their second straight win of the season as they played host to the Bulldogs of Union College Wednesday at Wildcat Stadium. Bethel beat the Dogs 2-0 to move to 2-0 on the young season. Union fell to 1-1 after the loss.
It was just the second meeting ever between the two programs. The two met in Barbourville in 2018 in a match which resulted in a scoreless tie.
The Wildcats led 1-0 at the break. The score came as a result of a goal by Silvio Xavier. Xavier followed with a second period goal handing the Wildcats the win.
Bethel's defense dominated the contest allowing the visitors just two shots and none on goal. Bethel had 16 shots and seven on goal.
The Wildcats return to action Friday traveling to Texas A & M University- Texarkana for a 5 p.m. matchup.
