MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The Bethel Wildcats and the Blue Mountain Toppers split their doubleheader Friday evening in McKenzie. The Wildcats won game one 14-10 while the Toppers took game two 9-2.
Game one was a game of big innings. Bethel scored six runs in the second inning and four in the sixth. Blue Mountain had an eight run fourth inning.
The teams combined for 24 runs, 22 hits and eight errors. Five of the errors were committed by the Toppers.
Game one highlights for Bethel included:
Antonio Costas picked up the win while Witt Roaton suffered the Topper loss.
Blue Mountain outhit Bethel 12-4 in game two. The Wildcats committed five errors in the game and left 11 runners on base. A five run second proved to be the key inning for the Toppers. Foster and Jack Surber had late RBI's for the Wildcats. Billy Price suffered the loss while Eli Jackson picked up the Topper win.
The Wildcats finished the day at 27 -18 overall and 14-11 in the SSAC. Blue Mountain completed the day at 26-22 and 15-10.
The teams close out the regular season Saturday at 1 p.m. on Senior Day. Ceremonies saluting the Wildcat seniors begins at 12:30 p.m.
