MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Bethel Lady Wildcats and the Lady Eagles of Faulkner split their doubleheader Friday afternoon in Montgomery. Bethel captured game one 4-2 while Faulkner grabbed game two 4-1.
Billie Douglas went the distance in the game scattering nine hits to gain the Wildcat win. Caitlin Perry suffered the Eagle loss.
Iesha Kizer homered in the fourth to tie the game at 1-1. Faulkner scored a go ahead run in the fourth to lead 2-1. A three run seventh by Bethel proved to be the difference in the two run victory. Jezabelle Quintana drove in two runs while Kizer added another RBI for the Cats. Bethel outhit Faulkner 10-9.
Game two saw Gillian Grahn account for Bethel's only score with an RBI in the sixth. Faulkner scored three runs in the third and one in the fourth. The Eagles outhit the Wildcats 8-5.
Bethel finished the day at 24-21 overall and 16-14 in the SSAC. Bethel snapped a five game losing streak with the victory in game one. Faulkner is 25-20 and 16-14. Their win in game two snapped a seven game Eagle losing skid.
The two squads close out the regular season Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. in Montgomery.
