MCKENZIE, Tenn. –After splitting their doubleheader Monday the Bethel Lady Wildcats and the Mobile Rams concluded their four game SSAC series Tuesday in McKenzie with another twin bill. The teams split again Tuesday with Bethel winning game one 3-1 and Mobile taking game two 13-3.
In game one the Lady Cats took a 3-0 lead with three runs in the third. Maddie Cochran and Lexee Miller drove in single runs while Bethel scored their third run on a Ram error. Mobile scored a single run in the fifth but Cochran was able to work out of a bases loaded jam to preserve the lead. Cochran would eventually go the distance scattering six hits and pick up her eighth win of the year as Bethel prevailed 3-1. Alexis Wheeler and Cochran both led Bethel with two hits each. Hope Cain suffered the Mobile loss.
Game two saw Bethel hold a 3-2 lead after three innings. The Lady Wildcats scored three runs in the bottom of the first. Kizer and Wheeler each drove in singles run. Mobile scored single runs in the first and second. The Rams sent 15 batters to the plate in the top of the fourth. Ten hits and three Bethel errors later Mobile tallied nine runs and took a commanding lead. They scored two more runs in the fifth and won in five innings 13-3. Mobile ace Erika Greek fired a two-hitter and picked up the win while Billie Douglas suffered the Bethel loss. Mobile outhit Bethel 18-2. The Lady Wildcats committed seven errors in the game.
Bethel hits the road traveling to No. 15 William Carey Friday and Saturday. The teams will play a doubleheader Friday at 3 p.m. and a twin bill Saturday at 1 p.m.
